Aila and The Firefox
Animated Feature
Set in 17th-century Lapland during the long polar night, Aila and the Firefox follows a daring eight-year-old Sámi girl who defies tradition and a self-doubting arctic fox with mismatched eyes. When Aila’s father disappears in a blizzard, she sets out to find the mythical Firefox Spirit, believing it’s the only way to save him.
Guided by her loyal reindeer Gallis and a mischievous ermine-diva Rasku, they journey through the harsh arctic wilderness steeped in Sámi mythology. As they face nature’s fury and ancient spirits, both girl and fox discover that legends can be misleading—and that real courage is found not in magic, but in themselves. With heart, humor, and wonder, the story celebrates resilience, cultural roots, and the inner light we all carry, inspiring children to believe in themselves and the power of tradition and nature.
